As an artist, Trina Teele’s journey began with a simple but powerful realization: artwork could reach people in ways words often cannot. Again and again she saw how an image could communicate emotion, memory, and connection instantly, without explanation. That discovery led her to devote her life to the language of art.

She earned her BFA in Painting and Graphic Design from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, where the art school culture of the time encouraged exploration beyond traditional realism. After starting her family, she kept art within reach, working as a graphic designer while continuing to paint and stay connected to the art world until returning to a deeper studio practice around 2010, when her children were older.

Over time her work has evolved toward a more lyrical and intuitive direction, where observation merges with feeling and imagination.

While her technical roots are grounded in realism, Trina’s process often begins with layered mixed media exploration before returning to oil paint, allowing texture, chance, and discovery to shape the final image. The result is work that feels both grounded and poetic.

Her paintings have been collected internationally and exhibited throughout New England, including coastal art communities in Newburyport, Rockport, Falmouth, and Martha’s Vineyard, as well as juried exhibitions and venues such as Gallery by NOA at the Groton Inn, SoWa Boston, and several Lowell galleries. Her work has also been featured in BostonVoyager and regional juried shows.

In addition to her studio practice, Trina is passionate about helping others discover their own creative voice. She is a resident artist and instructor at the Chelmsford Center for the Arts, where she teaches privately and mentors artists through her Joy of Paint and Get Yourself Painting classes.

From her New England studio, Trina paints daily, guided by curiosity and a deep belief that art can awaken something meaningful in those who encounter it.

"Trina Teele creates paintings that communicate what words often cannot."
